LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers hit three home runs, giving Yoshinobu Yamamoto the most run support he’s had this season in a 9-3 win over the A’s on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.

It was a bit of a seesaw for most of the middle game of the series, with the Dodgers scoring in the first two innings, the A’s taking the lead with runs in the third and fourth innings, then the Dodgers plating single runs in the fifth and sixth to re-take the lead.

The first three Dodgers runs came on solo home runs, by Shohei Ohtani in the first inning and Andy Pages in the second. Hyeseong Kim hit one over the right field wall in the fifth for his first major league home run, and his first extra-base hit.

Yamamoto struck out six and allowed three runs, but also got through six innings for the fifth time this season. The Dodgers only have three starts of at least six innings through the first 13 games on May, and Yamamoto has two of them, along with his May 2 start at Atlanta. Dustin May has the other, lasting 6⅔ innings last Saturday in Phoenix.

Yamamoto walked a pair and induced 14 swinging strikes, tied for his sixth-most in a major league start. He got seven whiffs on the splitter alone. The runs came on a curveball left up that Tyler Soderstrom hit out in the third inning, then an RBI double by Miguel Andujar in the fourth.

Miguel Rojas plated the go-ahead run with a two-out double in the sixth inning to score Michael Conforto from first base. Rojas improved to 3-for-3 as a pinch-hitter this season.

Four runs are the most scored by the Dodgers with Yamamoto in the game this season. They’ve scored a total of 13 runs with him in the game in his nine starts.

A single by Kiké Hernández followed by Rojas sacrificing him to second base in the eighth inning led to Ohtani getting intentionally walked. Mookie Betts made the A’s pay by doubling in both runners off Tyler Ferguson to widen the Dodgers advantage.

One out later, after a walk to Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy blasted a three-run home run to break the game open.

Notes

Pages reached base four times with two singles and a walk to go with his home run.
Ohtani’s home run came in the first inning, his 15th career leadoff home run. Nine of those have come with the Dodgers, including three this season.
The Dodgers scored once in the sixth and the A’s did not on Wednesday. On the season, the Dodgers have outscored opponents 32-14 in the sixth inning, their most advantageous frame.
