W/ELCOME to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor. No artificial intelligences were deployed, employed, entranced, or embalmed in the commission of this missive (apparently I might be training some though). Cub Tracks eagerly awaits the advent of robotic umpires and has already amended the three laws. The going is weird. Cub Tracks turned pro a long time ago.
Cub Tracks. Where the great ones run away.
Well, that was as refreshing as a cold beer on a warm night, wasn’t it? Boy, Busch was worth those minor-leaguers and the returns on the Javier Báez trade look pretty good. PCA is keeping up with Tucker for Pete’s sake.
At times like this it’s difficult not to wax rhapsodic about the team and its chances down the road, but an MLB season is closer to a mosh pit and we’ll have to see how it all plays out. Still… good one, Cubs. Knocked Milwaukee one game under .500, scored 10 runs, two PCA long balls and a Michael Busch granny.
We’ll see them again today, live from the city that beer made famous. One hopes for a similar outcome. Same bat time, usual bat channel.
