  • August 31, 2025

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Lorain officers who were shot in the line of duty were honored at the Guardians game Saturday evening.

Tonight, we had the honor of welcoming Officer Brent Payne and Officer Peter Gale of the Lorain Police Department out to deliver our game ball.

The Guardians awarded the game ball to officers Brent Payne and Peter Gale from the Lorain Police Department.

The officers were both injured in an ambush last month. The suspected shooter opened fire on the officers during their lunch break.

Officer Phillip Wagner was shot and killed during the ambush as well.

Officers Payne and Gale are still recovering from their injuries.
