After weather washed out the first official day of tournament play in WPIAL baseball playoffs, teams from across the Beaver Valley began its playoff journey with first-round action beginning on May 14.

Central Valley pitcher Daniel McIntosh was lights out against Greensburg Salem as he went a complete game allowing just one earned run on two hits, five walks and struck out seven.

Nate Angelo put together a strong offensive effort going 2-for-3 with two RBIs thanks to a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth.

Central Valley will now face West Mifflin in the quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined on Tuesday, May 20.

Ambridge pulled off the first-round upset over Knoch as pitcher Joe Leseikio pitched a complete game shutout allowing just two hits, two free passes while setting down six.

Both shortstop Adam Fernandez and center fielder Carter Mason posted multi-hit games with Fernandez tallying three hits and Mason contributing a pair.

The team will take on top seeded Indiana at a site and time to be determined in the quarterfinals.

Blackhawk’s season came to an end in the first round of the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs falling to Ringgold as the team committed five errors in the loss.

Carter Davis pitched the opening 4.1 innings for Blackhawk allowing just two earned runs on two hits, three walks while striking out nine.

Right fielder Stephen Knallay recorded two hits while third baseman Sam Saliba went a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI.
