DETROIT — Former Detroit Tigers right-hander José Ureña is set to pitch for his 11th different big-league team.
Ureña signed a major-league contract with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, a week after being released by the Minnesota Twins.
Ureña, who turns 34 later this month, has already pitched for and been released by four teams in 2025. He has posted a 5.00 ERA in 36 innings for the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and Twins.
Urena signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Tigers before the 2021 season after six years with the Miami Marlins. He logged 100 innings for Detroit that year, mostly as a starter, and finished with a 5.81 ERA.
The Angels now become his ninth different club since leaving Detroit, and his 11th overall.
