Should Detroit Tigers call up MLB’s No. 2 prospect Kevin McGonigle?

On “Days of Roar,” Evan Petzold invites Chris Brown of “Tigers Minor League Report” to debate when the Tigers should call up their No. 1 prospect.

The Detroit Tigers are looking to bounce back from a three-game sweep in West Sacramento, California.

They’ll be attempting to do so in Kansas City, Missouri, where they will be taking on their division foe in the Kansas City Royals in a three-game series starting on Friday, Aug. 29. The first game of the series has a scheduled first pitch of 8:10 p.m. ET and will be aired locally on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit.

The Tigers took two of three games against the Royals from Aug. 22-Aug. 24, at Comerica Park in Detroit, helping extend their division lead in the American League Central over the Royals by 10½ games. However, the Royals winning their last two games and the Tigers losing their last four means the Tigers’ divisional lead is down to 8 ½ over the Royals as the series begins.

Should the Royals sweep the Tigers as the Athletics just did, they could come within striking distance of the division lead with fewer than 30 games left in the regular season. However, should the Tigers win two or three games against the Royals, that would likely put the division out of reach for Kansas City.

Here’s what you need to know about the Tigers’ upcoming series.

Yes, they are playing against the Royals at 8:10 p.m. ET. Because the game will take place in the Central Time Zone, it will start a little later than a typical Friday Tigers game.
