If only Parker Messick could be dominant without having to make adjustments, if only Big Christmas were just good, if only Hall of Fame Players never endured terrible slumps, if only home runs didn’t happen that were home runs in 0 of 30 major league ballparks – would that it were so simple?

The Guardians will face Garrett Crotchet tonight who is left-handed and probably the best pitcher in baseball. So, that’s fun. I’ll tell you what, as a big David Fry guy, I need to see some signs of life over these last four weeks because… if not, tell him, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Zack Meisel has an article about the Guardians’ latest homestand for the Athletic, including stories of the members of the 1995 team who returned for the 20-year celebration of their AL Pennant win. 2025 Guardians, look at them, take it in, squint against the grandeur!

If you want to read about Trevor Story’s bizarre home run yesterday, several people have articles out about it. If you want to beat the Red Sox, you have to beat Fenway Park. You’re gonna have to beat it!

The Guardians, in case you missed it, called up George Valera, Jhonkensy Noel and Zack Kent yesterday as rosters expanded, and demoted Will Wilson. I hope a little more time for Noel will give the team the courage to move on from him this offseason… or, hey, if he figures things out, to give him a ramp for playing time. His power, of course, is terrific.

Baseball as a job is hard, so darn hard, but it makes people happy. Hopefully, the Guardians can use the rest of 2025 to set up to make fans happy in 2026. God wants us to be happy.
