The Red Sox have won two straight, including the series opener on Monday against the Guardians. Boston took that contest, 6-4, on the strength of Carlos Narváez, who had his first career pinch hit, and Trevor Story, who had one of the most bizarre home runs in recent memory.

In the fifth, Narváez got his lone at-bat and he delivered a 2-run single with the bases loaded to give the Red Sox a 5-3 lead. In the following inning, Story, who already delivered a RBI single in the second to tie the game, hit a fly ball toward the right field foul pole that was looking like it would be caught by Cleveland right fielder Jhonkensy Noel, but a leaping Noel could not securely grab that ball, and it hit the foul pole, thus making it a home run.

On Tuesday, Boston turns to Garrett Crochet, who is second in the AL in wins with his 14-5 record. The Red Sox are 77-62, 2.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the AL East lead, and percentage points behind the New York Yankees, who are also 2.5 games back of the division lead.
