It’s been an up-and-down year for Adolis Garcia, who was already on the injured list in August with a sprained ankle. The Texas Rangers pulled off a dramatic 7-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, but the win came with a cost as Garcia went down again to the IL. He left the game after tweaking his right quadriceps while sprinting to first base and had to be replaced in the outfield.
Garcia went hitless before exiting the game in the top half of the ninth inning. Luckily, Garcia’s replacement, Alejandro Osuna, played a crucial role, hitting a two-run single to lead Texas to victory.
Despite the crucial win, fans were left concerned as manager Bruce Bochy didn’t sound optimistic about Adolis Garcia’s injury.
“Doesn’t stop, doesn’t it? He was playing so well. We will evaluate him tomorrow. It’s a right quad [injury]. That’s where he feels it. We’re hoping for the best news tomorrow,” Bochy said on Rangers Sports Network.
The Rangers’ skipper’s comment suggests the 32-year-old right fielder will likely sit out over the next few days.

Despite the setbacks, Garcia has remained one of the Rangers’ most productive bats. This season, he is hitting .237 with 18 home runs and a team-high 73 RBIs.
Adolis Garcia’s injury couldn’t have been worse for Texas. The Rangers, who are on a six-game winning streak, are staring down one of the most challenging stretches of their season. They have back-to-back series against the Astros and Brewers before taking on the Mets and then seeing Houston again.
The Rangers are in a tight race for the third and final Wild Card spot, and are just 1.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners in the AL West standings. Adolis Garcia would have played a vital role for the team in this tough situation. At one point, the Rangers were rumored to trade Garcia, but they are holding onto him, hoping to make the playoffs.
Texas will wait for Tuesday’s test results to determine the severity of the injury. For now, Bochy and the Rangers are hopeful their star slugger won’t miss significant time as the postseason race heats up.
