The Los Angeles Dodgers are keen on having another run to the World Series in 2025. After signing several star players and building a super team, the Boys in Blue will stop at nothing. Dave Roberts and the franchise have worked their way through the offseason. Yet, some challenges are still thrown their way.

Despite the San Francisco Giants having a history of rivalry with the team, the Dodgers and Padres have emerged as the biggest rivals in the last few years. Fans are throwing punches at each other and every game played has several intense moments on the field.

The battle for the NL West division continues, and despite the Dodgers’ star-studded lineup, several feel the Padres will break through. MLB insider Buster Olney feels the same.

“And, let’s face it, San Diego is all-in trying to win right now, with its top-heavy roster and the likes of Dylan Cease and Michael King headed for free agency in the fall. The Dodgers, on the other hand, won’t go to the whip in September in the same way. No matter how their own division plays out, they’ll make the playoffs and have a shot to repeat as World Series winners, while it feels as if San Diego is going to go all-out down the stretch to win the NL West,” Olney said via the Sporting News.

While Olney is right about the Padres giving their best to win the NL West, it’s still a bold comment to make on the defending World Series champions.

The Padres are just 2.5 games behind their rival and could get to the top if they stay consistent. With the Pirates giving the team a hard time, they could soon lose their position if they continue to lose.

Moreover, the Dodgers have a tough schedule ahead with the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants. The Padres, on the other hand, will have a tough couple of series against the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets. With a tight race, it’s hard to predict the winner of the NL West division right now.
