Did Houston Astros’ pitcher Framber Valdez purposely hit his catcher after Trent Grisham’s grand slam Tuesday night?
There is speculation that he did.
Former MLB pitcher Dallas Braden posted an explanation on social media detailing why he believes Valdez hit catcher César Salazar intentionally after the Grisham slam put the Yankees up 6-0 en route to a 7-1 victory. Anthony Volpe was the batter at the time.
“Remember, this is the era of PitchCom,” Braden explained on social media. “You can hear what’s coming, you know what’s coming. If you have any second guesses, you step off [the mound].
“Framber says instead, ‘You know what, wear it! Your fault, Cesar. You threw the sinker onto Grisham’s bat.’ Cesar’s like, ‘Bro, come on.’”
Braden added: “100 percent intentional.”
After the game, both players offered other explanations.
Salazar said he hit the wrong button on PitchCom, while Valdez claimed he called the pitch himself.
“Did they both hit the buttons at the same time & cause confusion? Only they will ever TRULY know…” Braden posted.
