The following release on Shea Langeliers is courtesy of the Athletics

A’s catcher Shea Langeliers has been named the American League Player of the Month for July. This is the second consecutive month an A’s player has won the award after Nick Kurtz earned the honor for July. This is the first time the A’s have had a Player of the Month in consecutive months since 2001 (Jermaine Dye, August & Eric Chavez, September).

In August, Shea Langeliers hit .284 with a .661 slugging percentage and a .968 OPS, including 11 home runs, 22 RBI, and 19 extra-base hits. He ranked first in slugging and extra-base hits, second in home runs, third in OPS, tied for third in doubles (8), tied for fourth in RBI, and tied for ninth in runs (20).

More on A’s catcher Shea Langeliers

On Aug. 5, Shea Langeliers went 5-for-6 with three home runs and 15 total bases batting leadoff to join Johnny Bench, Gary Carter and Travis d’Arnaud as the only catchers in AL and NL history with two three-homer games in their career.

Shea Langeliers is the second catcher in MLB history to hit three homers in a game out of the leadoff spot (Travis d’Arnaud, July 15, 2019) and was the first A’s catcher with five hits in a game since Dave Duncan in 1972.

Prior to the 2025 season, the last A’s player to win a monthly award was Mason Miller who was named Reliever of the Month for March/April 2024. This is the fifth monthly award won by an A’s player this year, joining Jacob Wilson, who won Rookie of the Month for May, and Nick Kurtz, who won Rookie of the Month in June and Player and Rookie of the Month in July.

With less than one month remaining in the 2025 MLB regular season, the Athletics are looking to put the finishing touches on an overall positive year.

The Athletics (64-76) are six wins away from winning 70+ games for the first time since the 2021 campaign, as the green and gold have averaged 59.6 wins over the past three seasons.

While the A’s have played better as of late, they could still get some key players back during the final weeks of the regular season.

Here’s a look at injury updates for players like outfielder Denzel Clarke, left-hander Jacob Lopez, and more.
