The heartwarming scenes back in 2022 stood in stark contrast to the ugly ones that recently unfolded at the US Open By X
A Toronto Blue Jays fan once made a New York Yankees fan’s dreams come true after he was spotted gifting the young supporter an Aaron Judge home-run ball.
Recently, ugly scenes unfolded at Flushing Meadows during the US Open when Polish millionaire Piotr Szczerek stole a hat from a young boy that had been given to him by Kamil Majchrzak, leaving the child crying in disbelief at the incident as the CEO smiled on.
Lip readers dissected the footage in real time of the shocking incident, revealing the boy said: “No, give it back to me! Kamil, Kamil, he has taken it from me! Give it to me! It’s mine!”

However, Szczerek should have taken a leaf out of a Blue Jays fan’s book back in 2022, after they were spotted gifting a Yankees fan an Aaron Judge home-run ball.
Back in 2022, Judge launched a 427-foot homer into the second deck of the left-field seats at Rogers Centre, with Blue Jays fan Mike Lanzillotta securing the ball. He threw his hands up in celebration before spotting the Yankees fan.
While the Polish millionaire took the hat from the young fan with ease at the US Open recently, Lanzillota immediately looked over to the young New York supporter, Derek Rodriguez, gifting him the ball.
That then prompted tears from the young fan, who embraced Rodriguez.
And then, to make things even better for Rodriguez, he and Lanzillotta were invited to meet Judge in the Yankees dugout the following day, posing for pictures with the MLB star.
“For a Blue Jays fan to have that moment with a young Yankee fan, that’s a moment seen around the world,’’ Judge said on the interaction. “It speaks volumes to the Blue Jays fans they have here. … It was cool.”
Lanzillotta added: “Instinct just took over and I turned right to the kid and I said, ‘Here you go, buddy.’
“He wrapped his arms around me, and I just had an overwhelming feeling of joy and elation.”
Thankfully, despite Szczerek’s actions, it appears as though the young tennis fan at Flushing Meadows did recieve one of Majchrzak’s caps in the end. Posting on social media, Majchrzak provided an update after he initially reached out to find the fan.
“After the match I didn’t record that my cap didn’t get to the boy,” Majchrzak wrote on social media. “Thanks to @asicstennis I’ve got enough caps, so I’m prepared for that.
“Hey guys, could you help me find the kid from my match @USOpen @Eurosportpl. If it’s you (or your parents see this), please send me a DM.”
Just one hour later, Majchrzak confirmed that his request was successful and that he had contacted the family. “I am impressed by the power of the internet,” he wrote. “We got it! It’s all good now.”
