LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson and two assistants are set to receive new contracts after the Tigers won the 2025 national championship, their second in three years.

Johnson will become the highest-paid college baseball coach in the country with a new deal that tops $3 million annually and runs through the 2032 season. He is set to make $23.45 million before bonuses over the next seven years.

The new deals are expected to be approved Friday by the LSU board of supervisors. Johnson signed off on the agreement in mid-August, according a copy of the contract included in the board meeting agenda.

Johnson previously received a new contract after he won his first national title in 2023. He earned $1.67 million last year before bonuses, which made him the fourth-highest paid coach in the SEC, according to The Tennessean. His compensation was set to increase annually until he earned $2 million in 2030.

Johnson will now make $3.05 million over the next year. His compensation increases by $100,000 annually until it reaches $3.65 million in the final year of the contract.

Tennessee coach Tony Vitello was the highest-paid coach in the country last year after signing a new deal that paid him $3 million annually. After the Volunteers won their first national title, Vitello became the first college baseball coach known to top $3 million. His deal included a $250,000 signing bonus and runs through 2029.

Two LSU assistants, recruiting coordinator Josh Jordan and director of baseball operations Josh Simpson, are also set to receive new contracts.

Jordan will make an average of $485,000 over the next three years. His previous deal, which ended this year, paid him an average of $310,000 per year.

Simpson was already under contract through the 2027 season, and the length of his deal did not change. He will now make $255,000 over the next year, up from $205,000 under the previous agreement.
