Key Stats: LHP Jackson Wolf 3.2 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, K; RHP Ron Marinaccio IP, H, 2 K; RHP Francis Peña IP, H; DH Luis Campusano 1-for-4; LF Tim Locastro 2-for-4, R, SB (27); 3B Marcos Castañon 1-for-3; SS Ripken Reyes 1-for-3, 2B
Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas fell behind early and had very few highlights as they lost without a fight in Salt Lake City. Relievers Ron Marinaccio and Francis Peña each tossed a scoreless inning at the end of the game, and Marinaccio struck out two. While Marinaccio has an ERA of 5.40 in El Paso since the start of July, but is still scoreless over 4.2 big league innings with a sub-1 WHIP. He generated five whiffs in his one inning of work. Peña, on the other hand, generated three weakly hit balls for a scoreless inning after allowing five earned runs over his previous two outings. The 24-year-old should be a contender for the bullpen next season. … The only multi-hit game belonged to Tim Locastro, who also stole his 27th bag of the season. The 33-year-old former big leaguer also scored a run, giving him nearly as many runs (57) as he has strikeouts (58). … After more than two years in San Antonio, Marcos Castañon finally made it to Triple-A. He went 1-for-3 in his first game for El Paso, including collecting the hardest hit ball of the night when he lined a ball 106.4 mph off the bat that just missed being his first Triple-A home run.

Prospect Watch: Since leaving his first start of August with arm soreness and skipping a turn through the rotation, Jagger Haynes has been on a limited workload. Wednesday, he stretched out to get through three scoreless innings for the first time since July. The 22-year-old lefty struck out three, but issued two more walks and has now given up 56 in 96 innings. Even with the struggles with command, opponents are batting .223 and his 4.13 ERA is his best over a full season. … The day after their promotions from Fort Wayne, Josh Mallitz and Fernando Sanchez both chipped in scoreless innings. Mallitz, 23, now owns a 12-inning scoreless streak. Since coming back from nearly two months on the IL, the undrafted free agent out of the University of Mississippi has been scoreless in 10 of his 11 appearances. Sanchez hasn’t allowed an earned run in 11 innings. The 24-year-old made his return to Double-A by facing the minimum over two innings. Since June 25, the lefty has a 1.51 ERA over 35.2 innings. … Anthony Vilar made the Missions’ only hit of the game count as he connected on his sixth homer of the year to pull within one of his career high. Vilar also walked, accounting for two of the three times the Missions reached base in the game.

Key Statistics: RHP Clark Candiotti 1.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 3 K; 3B Eguy Rosario 0-for-4, BB, 2 K; LF Kasen Wells 2-for-5, R, RBI; C Lamar King Jr 1-for-4, 2B, R, RBI, BB; RF Jack Costello 2-for-5, HR (10), RBI, SB (10); CF Kai Roberts 1-for-2, RBI, BB
Prospect Watch: After four extra-base-hits in his last two games, Eguy Rosario went hitless with two strikeouts. He walked once to extend his on-base streak to four games. In his two weeks with the TinCaps, Rosario has a .645 OPS. … Jack Costello reached double digits in both home runs and stolen bases on an otherwise rough night for the TinCaps. After hitting just one homer over the span of two months, Costello now has four in the past 10 days. The late power surge is saving the season for the 24-year-old who is up to a .643 OPS. … It his final start of the season, Clark Candiotti left on a sour note. The righty, who was a senior sign out of last year’s draft, gave up a career-high six runs – only four earned – without getting through the second inning. Candiotti did get three of his five outs by way of the strikeout. He finishes his season with a strong 28.9% strikeout rate, but he posted a 5.77 ERA and walked more than 15% of batters in just 48.1 innings on the year.

Key Statistics: LHP Kash Mayfield 1.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 K; LF Alex McCoy 2-for-4, HR (6), 2 RBI; SS Jorge Quintana 1-for-4, HR (1), RBI; C Carlos Rodriguez 1-for-3, 2B

Prospect Watch: Coming off arguably the best start of his career, Kash Mayfield turned in one of the worst. Last year’s first-round pick could not escape the second inning thanks in large part to his own throwing error. Mayfield needed 42 pitches to get four outs and that was deemed enough to pull him. Mayfield is set to end his first full year as a pro with a 2.97 ERA, and 88 strikeouts in 60.2 innings. … While the Storm pitching and offense both ebbed and flowed, one constant has been Alex McCoy. The big outfielder hit his sixth home run in 50 games and is now hitting .314/.391/.514 with the Storm. Since July 30, the 23-year-old is hitting nearly .360 with an OPS well over 1.000. … Jorge Quintana got the Storm on the board with his first Cal League homer. The switch-hitter drove the ball just to the left of center field from the left side. While Quintana has dazzled with a few highlight real plays defensively, the 18-year-old has hit just .197/.308/.276 in his first month in his new organization.
