ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Braves have released pitcher Cal Quantrill just two weeks after claiming him off waivers.
Quantrill was a stopgap option for a decimated Braves rotation. He slotted in alongside Spencer Strider, Hurston Waldrep, Joey Wentz, Bryce Elder and was one of 17 unique starting pitchers for the Braves in 2025.
He threw just eight innings for the Braves, losing both of his starts. He gave up three runs on five hits in 4.2 innings against the New York Mets on Aug. 23 and gave up nine runs on nine hits in 3.2 innings during the 19-4 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 28.
Also on Thursday, the Braves reinstated outfielder Jurickson Profar from the paternity list and recalled pitcher Daysbel Hernández.
