An affidavit from the Texas DPS Texas Rangers states that Rebecca Ontiveros confessed to two separate incidents of sexual intercourse with a student.
MARFA, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers Division has released details on the arrest of a Marfa Independent School District teacher for having an improper relationship with a student.
On Aug. 21, a Texas Ranger was reportedly requested to assist the Marfa Police Department with an improper relationship between an educator and a student investigation at Marfa ISD.
According to an affidavit, Police Chief Gilbert Carrillo identified the suspect as Rebecca Ontiveros.
Chief Carrillo reportedly informed a Texas Ranger that Ontiveros used to be a paraprofessional employed by the school district, but was now a teacher at Marfa ISD.
The affidavit says the victim in this case was confirmed as a current student at the district.
Chief Carrillo reportedly had a recorded statement from the victim’s grandmother, alerting officials to the romantic/sexual relationship between Ontiveros and her grandson.
On the same day, the Texas Ranger met with Ontiveros at Marfa ISD, where the official informed her of the reasoning for the visit, according to the affidavit.
After being read her Miranda Warnings and informed that she was not in custody and could leave at any time, she reportedly confessed to two separate incidents of sexual intercourse with the student in June and July of this year.
The affidavit states the confession was recorded by law enforcement.
Ontiveros was then arrested for having an improper relationship with a student and was booked into Presidio County Jail.
