After winning their first series in three weeks, the Los Angeles Angels will look to keep that flow as they open a new homestand against the Athletics, starting Friday, September 5th.

Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.

Angels: Los Angeles (66-74) is beyond their competitive window at this part of the season. A very rough month of August saw the team suffer multiple injuries and win only one series, and only three total since the All Star break.

On the bright side of things, the Angels have an opportunity to bounce back on their struggles in their upcoming homestand after taking two of three against the Kansas City Royals on the road.

After the Athletics, the Angels will host the Minnesota Twins midweek. The Athletics have had a positive second half despite faltering in their last two series, while the Twins have been one of the league’s worst teams since trading a chunk of their core at the trade deadline.

In the series finale on Sunday, the Angels will tab starter Mitch Farris for his second career start. Farris earned the victory over the Royals in five innings of one-run ball on Tuesday in his major league debut.

After running face first into a metal wall last Saturday and having to get 20 stitches, outfielder Taylor Ward quickly returned to the Angels’ lineup. He missed only two games, playing the last two games in Kansas City.

Athletics: The A’s (64-77) are coming off back-to-back disappointing series losses after surprising the baseball world with a sweep against the Detroit Tigers. Since then, they were swept by the Texas Rangers and took one of three against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Despite the recent week, the A’s have been one of the league’s best in the second half. The team’s offense had been loud in August.

Catcher Shea Langeliers was named the AL Player of the Month for August, as he slashed a .968 OPS with 11 home runs and 22 RBI. Rookie Nick Kurtz has been one of the league’s best bats this season, posting a 177 wRC+ to date in 96 games.

To open the series, the Athletics will send Mason Barnett to the mound, joining the Angels’ Farris as one of two starting pitchers making their second major league start this weekend. He allowed five earned runs over four innings in his debut against the Rangers last Saturday.
