Right-hander Yenrri Rojas was promoted to Double-A Knoxville from High-A South Bend.
The Iowa Cubs won their seventh-straight game, beating the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 12-11.
Chris Kachmar started this game and got knocked around for eight runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings. Kachmar walked four and struck out five.
Ryan Brasier pitched the sixth inning in a rehab appearance. Brasier gave up one run on two hits—with the run coming on a one-out solo home run. Brasier struck out one and walked no one.
Gavin Hollowell came on to get the save in the top of the ninth and he blew it with a leadoff solo home run by Bobby Dalbec. But he got the win when Iowa scored in the bottom of the inning. Hollowell’s final line was one run on two hits over one inning. He struck out one and walked no one.
Right fielder Hayden Cantrelle hit doubled home third baseman Chase Strumpf with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Cantrelle went 3 for 5 with the double and a stolen base. Cantrelle had two total RBI and scored once.
Strumpf also hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. It was his 11th on the year. Strumpf went 1 for 4 with a walk.
First baseman Carlos Pérez cranked his 26th home run of the season in the sixth inning with the bases empty. Pérez went 3 for 5. He scored twice and drove in two.
Catcher Moisés Ballesteros was 3 for 5. He scored twice and drove in one.
Second baseman Dixon Machado was 2 for 5 with a two-run single in the second inning. Machado scored once,
DH Caleb Knight had a three-run double in the third inning. Knight was 1 for 4 with a walk and one run scored.
Owen Caissie was a late-scratch in this game amid uncertainty about Kyle Tucker’s health.

The Knoxville Smokies compacted the Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels), 5-4 in ten innings.
Grant Kipp pitched the first 4.1 innings and gave up three runs on six hits, including a two-run home run. Kipp walked one, hit one batter and struck out one.
AJ Puckett gave up a run in the top of the tenth, but got the win when the Smokies struck back with two in the bottom of the inning, Puckett pitched two innings and allowed the one unearned run on two hits. Puckett struck out three and walked no one.
Third baseman BJ Murray Jr. singled home Brett Bateman with the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. Murray went 4 for 5. Bateman was 1 for 1 with a game-tying single in the tenth.
Shortstop Corey Joyce clubbed a two-run home run in the third inning, his second of the season. Joyce went 2 for 5.
The South Bend Cubs were bitten by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers), 9-2.
Brooks Caple turned in a terrific start tonight, giving up just one run on three hits over six innings. Caple struck out five and walked no one.
Marino Santy, on the other hand, dod not have a good relief appearance and got the loss. Santy was knocked around for six runs on three hits, four walks and one hit batter over 1.1 innings. Santy did not strike anyone out.
Second baseman Alexis Hernandez was 2 for 4 with one run scored.
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were mesmerized by the Columbia Fireflies (Royals), 6-1.
Starter Victor Zarraga got the loss after giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck otu three and walked one.
Right fielder Eli Lovich went 2 for 3 with a walk. He scored once.
