The Detroit Tigers just announced a blow to their bullpen. The Tigers placed reliever Kyle Finnegan on the 15-day injured list due to a mild right adductor strain that flared up when he was warming up in the bullpen. The move is retroactive to Monday.
Finnegan Placed on 15-Day Injured List
Finnegan has been nothing short of great since joining the Tigers at the trade deadline. In 12 relief outings, totaling 14 1/3 shutout innings, he hasn’t allowed a single run, notched 19 strikeouts, and recorded four saves.
Finnegan’s Outlook and Recovery Plan
Manager A.J. Hinch described the strain as mild, reinforcing that rest and minimal activity are the best path forward.
“We’ll keep his arm moving and continue doing things,” Hinch explained. “But we’re going to miss him for the 15 days…”
There is still a lot of optimism, though. Finnegan himself is confident he’ll be ready for October.
“I expect to throw a few more games in the regular season and be ready in the postseason.” He told Reuters.
Meadows Returns: What It Means for the Lineup
On the brighter side, outfielder Parker Meadows is back. He has been activated from the 10-day IL, giving Detroit a boost as the lineup regains its depth and speed on the field.
While this is a setback for the Detroit Tigers, they are counting on Finnegan to anchor the late innings. As long as his recovery goes well, he could still be a key weapon down the stretch. Until then, Detroit’s bullpen is adapting to the brief change.

Here’s a look at every year the Tigers made it to the playoffs, along with their postseason results. Hopefully, we can add another to this list soon!
