CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Major League Baseball marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with a special game on Sunday, honoring young cancer survivors.
Before the Cincinnati Reds faced off against the New York Mets, representatives from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, CancerFree KIDS and the Dragonfly Foundation were recognized during pregame ceremonies.
Six “Champions of Courage,” young fans who have battled life-threatening cancers or autoimmune diseases, took a celebratory lap around the bases. They were warmly greeted by players from both the Reds and the Mets.
