After narrowly avoiding getting swept by the Athletics, the Los Angeles Angels will turn the page to their second series of the homestand, as they take on the Minnesota Twins in a three-game set that starts Monday, Sep. 7th.
Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.Â
Angels: Los Angeles (67-76) edged out a tight victory on Sunday to salvage the series finale against the Athletics, thanks to Travis d’Arnaud’s go-ahead RBI double in the 8th inning. Prior to that game, the Angels had lost to A’s twice by a wide margin, allowing a combined 27 runs in the first two games.Â
At the moment, the team’s starting pitching is at its bleakest low this season. As a result of recent struggles and injuries, the Angels called on prospect Caden Dana to start on Wednesday, where he allowed one earned run in five innings against the Kansas City Royals. Dana is set to start against the Twins Monday.
Starter José Soriano struggled massively in his start against the A’s on Friday. In just 2.1 innings of work, Soriano surrendered eight earned runs to his name. Soriano is slated to pitch the series finale on Wednesday, looking to bounce back.Â
In Sunday’s game, catcher Logan O’Hoppe suffered a freak injury as he was hit on the chin by a warmup swing by the A’s Jacob Wilson. He is undergoing testing to see if a concussion was suffered, leaving his availability for the Twins series in jeopardy.
Outfielder Jo Adell hit two of the Angels’ three homers over the weekend, bringing his season home run total to 35. He is on pace to be the first Angel to hit 40 homers since Shohei Ohtani did so in his 2023 MVP campaign.
Twins: Minnesota (63-80) presents an entirely different roster than the one that swept the Angels in late April. Having traded a massive chunk of their core at July’s trade deadline, the Angels will face a new-look Twins team.Â
The Twins are on the heels of avoiding a series sweep in winning Sunday’s contest against the Kansas City Royals. Prior to that, the team had lost six straight, including four games to the Chicago White Sox.
On Sunday however, Twins star Byron Buxton suffered a left knee contusion after getting hit by pitch, exiting Sunday’s game. The outfielder is currently listed as day-to-day by the team.Â
Minnesota also placed catcher Ryan Jeffers on the 7-day injured list Sunday with a concussion. Jeffers had been one of the team’s most consistent bats recently, hitting .278 over the team’s last 30 games.
