PHILADELPHIA — A Mets catcher may be placed on the injured list, and it wouldn’t be the one who has eight working fingers.

Francisco Alvarez’s remarkable comeback from a UCL sprain in his right thumb and a broken left pinkie continues, but his backup may change. Hayden Senger was with the Mets at Citizens Bank Park on Monday because Luis Torrens was nursing a hurting right arm.

Torrens, whose throwing arm is his greatest strength, had been hit in the arm a few days ago and was not available in Sunday’s loss in Cincinnati.

As of early Monday afternoon, the Mets had not yet determined if a stint on the injured list would be warranted.
