Tennessee baseball pitcher Anson Seibert underwent an elbow procedure in early September but is expected to return for the start of the 2026 season, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation.
The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because Seibert’s procedure is not public knowledge.
The 6-foot-8, 235-pound right-handed pitcher redshirted in the 2025 season after having Tommy John surgery before arriving at Tennessee. The September procedure was an adjustment to Seibert’s original surgery.
Seibert is expected to miss fall practices while recovering for approximately 15 weeks.
Seibert was ranked the No. 108 prospect going into the 2024 MLB Draft by MLB.com He is the No. 35 prospect in the nation, according to Perfect Game, which made him the highest-ranked recruit in Tennessee’s 2024 class. Seibert, who is from Overland Park, Kansas, was picked in the 16th round by the Detroit Tigers in the 2024 MLB Draft. He did not sign and came to UT instead.
Tennessee returns Brandon Arvidson and Tegan Kuhns as weekend starter options. Arvidson opted to return to Tennessee amid the 2025 MLB Draft. The Vols added Landon Mack from Rutgers and Evan Blanco from Virginia as potential weekend starters.
UT also got elite freshman Cameron Appenzeller to campus instead of losing the heralded recruit to the pros. Brayden Krenzel returns as an expected key arm who could start or pitch in relief.
The Vols added bullpen arms in the portal. Bo Rhudy from Kennesaw State and Brady Frederick from ETSU are two right-handed arms. Frederick gives a different look as a submarine pitcher. Mark Hindy from Duke is a versatile lefty who can cover innings or be used situationally.
Blaine Brown is two-way player from Rice, respectively, and can pitch.
Nic Abraham is a returner who pitched early in the 2025 season. Ethan Baiotto is an exciting freshman and a top-100 recruit.Â
