Can Detroit Tigers get to 96 wins in 2025? Here’s what it would take

On “Days of Roar,” Evan Petzold and Chris Brown break down what’s going right for the Detroit Tigers in the past month, plus if 96 wins is achievable.

The Detroit Tigers have a day off before visiting the New York Yankees for a highly-anticipated series.

After dropping two of three games to the last-place Chicago White Sox over the weekend, the Tigers have an off day on Monday, Sept. 8, before visiting the Yankees for a three-game series from Tuesday, Sept. 9 through Thursday, Sept. 11. The series may prove crucial to the Yankees, who are two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East race, but less crucial for the Tigers, who hold an 8½ game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central.

Instead, the Tigers are playing for playoff positioning, as they stand a half-game behind the Blue Jays for the top seed in the AL. Should they reach that mark, they will earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs up until the World Series (should they make it that far).

Here’s what you need to know about the Tigers upcoming series in The Bronx.
