The Dodgers have activated IF Max Muncy from the injured list and optioned catcher Chuckie Robinson.

Muncy has a slash line of .258/.389/.491 with an OPS of .880 this season, but has been hitting .333 with a 1.169 OPS since the start of June.

A scary-looking knee injury held him out for a little over a month in July, but in the eight games he played in August, Muncy was batting .348 with four home runs and nine RBIs before an oblique injury sidelined him until Monday’s activation.

The slugging third baseman has been a pivotal part of the offense when healthy, but his recent time away has coincided with the Dodgers’ lack of production on offense.

As for Robinson, he started his tumultuous 2025 campaign as a member of the Los Angeles Angels after being traded from the Chicago White Sox in December. He failed to make an appearance at the big league level for the Halos, but batted .272 with a .704 OPS at the Triple-A level.

Robinson was designated for assignment towards the end of May, and claimed off waivers by the Dodgers three days later.

At Triple-A Oklahoma City, Robinson has made 47 appearances, batting .259 with an OPS of .705. He added four home runs, 28 RBIs and provided depth for a Dodgers catchers room that dealt with Will Smith and Dalton Rushing injuries recently.

Robinson being optioned should be a promising sign for Dodgers fans as Smith doesn’t appear to be headed to the injured list. If there was more risk for Smith to miss significant time, although an IL stint may not have been neccesary, optioning Robinson likely wouldn’t be the course of action from the front office.

With Muncy back in the lineup, and Smith looking to get back to the dish possibly by Tuesday, Dodgers fans can breathe a little easier after Monday’s move.
