TUSCALOOSA — Hopes were high, but Alabama baseball was not selected to host an NCAA Tournament regional. The hunt for the program’s sixth College World Series appearance isn’t over.
Alabama (41-16) entered Sunday at No. 13 in the RPI, but other rating metrics the selection committee uses to assemble the field, like quality wins, saw the Crimson Tide miss the national seed it was projected to have before an early exit in the SEC Tournament at the hands of Tennessee.
The No. 2 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional at Southern Miss, Crimson Tide opens against No. 3 seed Miami (31-24) on Friday. No. 16 overall seed Southern Miss and Columbia (29-17) are on the opposite side of the bracket.
Alabama, one of 18 teams in Division I to finish the 2025 regular season with 40-plus wins, won its eighth region championship two seasons ago.
Here’s a look at the full schedule for the Hattiesburg Regional.

Alabama baseball’s performance in SEC
The Crimson Tide opened the season with a 16-game unbeaten streak, marking the best start in program history. However, Alabama hit some bumps in the road in the latter half of the season with three straight SEC series losses to Auburn, Mississippi State and LSU. Despite maintaining one of the highest RPIs in not only the conference but the country, the team’s late struggles in league play raised questions about its ability to go the distance. Granted, series wins like those to sweep Texas A&M when conference play began and taking two games vs. Georgia show Alabama’s potential as a spoiler.
The SEC had a record-tying eight teams selected as regional sites, leaving little room for additional conference members to receive hosting bids. Georgia, Auburn, Texas, LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss will all bring regionals to their respective home stadiums, the Volunteers making a late push to host only after taking Alabama down 15-10 and upsetting No. 1 Texas during SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
