After the Los Angeles Dodgers lost their fifth game in a row on Saturday night, there was tons of frustration in the air.

For any team with championship aspirations, losing five games in a row to start September is brutal. Doing so as the reigning champions of the league is one thing, but for the fifth loss of the skid to be after 8.2 no-hit innings by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, morale seemed to have reached a new low in LA.

The Dodgers, fortunately, have gotten somewhat back on track with two straight wins, but it’s tough to have any confidence in the team at this point in time.

Right fielder Teoscar Hernández spoke on how his team must move forward and trust each other despite the slump.

“For me, not being the same as last year is a little frustrating,” Hernández said. “I don’t want to be like that. I want to be better than last year. But it’s baseball. It’s life. You just have to keep working, keep trusting in yourself and the things that you can do to help the team.”

The final two games of the unfortunate streak were at the hands of walk-off wins by the Baltimore Orioles. Although the Dodgers were able to save themselves from another series sweep on Sunday thanks to eight strikeouts from Clayton Kershaw across 5.2 innings, a pair of Shohei Ohtani home runs, and a Mookie Betts dinger, this season has had no shortage of low points.

“You just leave everything on the field,” Hernández said. “I’m going to keep working, keep doing my routine, keep doing the stuff that I normally do to get back on track. And hopefully I get the results that I want to help the team.”

The results have luckily started to show, but there are still just 18 games to go until the postseason. Regardless of what has been happening with the Dodgers, the ball club must turn things around before it’s too late.
