AUGUSTA, Ill. — Southeastern overcame a late West Prairie rally to put away the Cyclones for a 9-6 win on Thursday.

After both teams traded two runs in the first inning, the Cyclones took a 3-2 lead in the top of the second that lasted until the Suns scored five runs in the bottom of the third.

Southeastern weathered a top of the sixth that saw West Prairie score three runs and narrow the Suns lead to three runs.

Suns left fielder Austin Stigall went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, while Carson Kerr went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Kerr started the game for the Suns and went two innings with two strikeouts, while allowing two hits, two walks and no earned runs.

Brady McClintock pitched three innings in relief with seven strikeouts, while allowing five hits, three walks and two earned runs to get the win for Southeastern.

Suns reliever Griffin Tippey pitched two scoreless innings with six strikeouts to get the save. He also scored three runs.

Up next for Southeastern (6-12) is a home game against West Hancock (6-16) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
