The end of the regular season is fast approaching as the team has just 17 games to go. The Ams have started their series with the Red Sox with a loss last night but still have five games left against the playoff hopeful. Boston would be a Wild Card if the season were to end today, and they seem likely to maintain a hold on a postseason spot. The A’s won’t lie down and make it easy for them beforehand though.
The Athletics’ first season in Sacramento has been a disappointment. At just 66-79 the club has made strides in its rebuild but still has a ways to go before getting to where the Red Sox are. It wasn’t a straightforward season for Boston by any means after trading their best player, but they were able to adapt on the fly and look like a better team. The A’s should be taking notes on the Red Sox if they want to be in their position next year.
