NEW YORK – In the shadow of the Green Monster, that’s where you’ll find Aaron Judge defensively this weekend.

Judge is expected to play left field at Boston’s Fenway Park during the Yankees’ important three-game set against the Red Sox beginning Friday night.

On Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone said he planned to alternate playing Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the shorter left field territory at Fenway, with Cody Bellinger covering the deeper right field.

During Tuesday’s 12-2 loss to the Tigers at Yankee Stadium, Judge played right field for the third time in the Yanks’ last four games.

Until last Friday, Judge hadn’t played defensively since July 25, due to a strained right flexor that had limited him exclusively to DH duty following a stint on the injured list.

Judge’s throwing has been compromised, and the shorter left field distance at Fenway affords him some relief in that area.

In his MLB career, Judge has made five starts in left field, all of them coming in 2024 – three at Baltimore’s Camden Yards and two at Yankee Stadium.

Before Tuesday’s game, Boone said he’d “probably rotate’’ Judge and Stanton in right field during their home series against Detroit.

Stanton is likely to play right field Wednesday with Judge at DH.

“That’s kind of my plan going in, but I circle up with them every night and kind of see what makes the most sense, too,’’ Boone said Tuesday afternoon.
