The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School baseball team advanced to the Tri-County Athletic League title game, defeating John Swett 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

It was the Bruins’ 12th win in their last 13 games dating back to April 2. St. Pat’s, 19-4 overall, will play at Hercules for the league title on Friday at 4 p.m.

The Bruins were led by starting pitcher Trevor Moelk, who threw six innings and gave up no runs and just two hits while striking out seven. Moelk also had a hit and an RBI at the plate.

Offensively St. Pat’s had big games from Madden Mendez (two hits, a steal and an RBI) and Jaden Dichoco (two hits, two RBI). Also collecting two hits for the Bruins were Denali Dilley and Xavier Brewer. Bo Smith had a double.

Hercules and St. Pat’s have split two games this season, with St. Pat’s winning the most recent game 8-5 on March 20.

Hercules 8, Vallejo 7

The Vallejo High baseball team lost to Hercules 8-7 on Wednesday in the Tri-County Athletic League semifinals. Hercules will play St. Pat’s in the title game on Friday.

Vallejo was tied 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth, but Hercules added three runs in the frame to take an 8-5 lead. Vallejo scored two runs in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.

Vallejo is 12-10 overall after finishing 6-6 in league play. The Redhawks will await North Coast Section playoff brackets this weekend to see if they make the postseason.
