After getting blown out in the opening game of the series, the Tigers have gutted out a pair of wins thanks to a couple of timely hits and strong pitching. After Tarik Skubal put in another Cy Young-level performance in Game 2, Detroit’s bullpen came up clutch on Wednesday. Brant Hurter, Beau Brieske and the rest of the Tigers’ bullpen were complemented by excellent defense, and a couple of clutch base hits from Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson and Matt Vierling, Detroit was able to come away with a 3-0 win, marking the team’s first home playoff victory in 11 years.

No Tiger nor Guardian had more than a single hit in the game, as the Bengals were outhit, 6-5, in Game 3.

If Detroit were to win on Thursday, they would advance to the ALCS for the first time since 2013. A win for Cleveland will send the series back to Progressive Field on Sunday.
