Season series: Mariners lead 5-4

This is just the third meeting of the season in Seattle. The Mariners swept a 2-game set April 29-30, outscoring the Angels 14-6.

Seattle has won 5 games in a row, as it sits in position for the final AL WildCard spot with 16 games remaining. It is 1 1/2 games up on the Texas Rangers with a game in hand, while 3 1/2 games clear of the Cleveland Guardians, and 4 games up on the Kansas City Royals. Those 2 teams meet earlier Thursday night in a series finale.

The Mariners completed a 3-game interleague series sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, winning 4-2 on Wednesday night in 13 innings. C Cal Raleigh was 1-for-3 with 3 walks, while OF Leo Rivas launched a 2-run homer in the 13th inning to walk it off.

The Angels posted a 4-3 win in the series finale with the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, clinching the series with 2 wins in the 3-game set. Despite that, the Angels are just 3-4 in the past 7 games. The Over is 4-2 in the previous 6 outings, too. DH Mike Trout was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and 2 RBIs, while SS Zach Neto was 1-for-4 with a homers and 2 RBIs.

Angels at Mariners picks and predictionsPrediction

Angels 6, Mariners 4

The ANGELS (+145) are strong play as moderate underdogs, as they look to cool off the Mariners.

Soriano has been a tremendous pitcher on the road, and Miller has been mostly a disaster, regardless of venue. Seattle is in the thick of the Wild Card chase, and every game counts, but this one isn’t likely to go in its favor.

If you’re like a little insurance, ANGELS +1.5 (-155) isn’t priced out of line if you simply cannot trust Los Angeles straight up in Seattle’s stadium.

Again, though, Soriano has been tremendous on the road, and the Halos have been a thorn in the side of the M’s all season.

OVER 8 (-105) is worth a look, based mostly on Miller’s splits.

He has posted a dismal 6.88 ERA across his past 7 starts, and the Over is 8-1-1 in his past 10 starts for the Mariners. The Over is 6-3 in the past 9 games for Seattle, too.

For the Angels, the Over has cashed in 4 of the past 6 games, with the offense going for 3 or more runs in 12 straight outings. The pitching staff has been clubbed for 10 or more runs 3 times in the past 6 games, too.
