Huge celebration held at Dodger Stadium for World Series victory

Fans filled Dodger Stadium to party with the team following their World Series victory over the New York Yankees.

Cross-state rivals Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants will start a 7-game head-to-head stretch over the next two weeks, beginning on Sept. 12.

The Dodgers are at the top of the National League West Division as of Sept. 9 with 80 wins and 64 losses, according to MLB’s official website. The Giants trail behind the Padres in third, at 73 wins and 71 losses. The Giants are fighting for the final wild-card playoff spot with the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds.

The Dodgers and Giants rivalry dates back to 1883, before they made their way to the West Coast in 1958, according to Local News Matters.

The two teams are currently close in overall wins, with the Giants beating the Dodgers by only four wins out of the 2,858 times the two have faced off.

Where to watch the Dodgers and Giants game

The Dodgers will have to travel to San Francisco and play at Oracle Park for the first three games, and then later in the month, the Giants will head to Chavez Ravine.
