Texas A&M baseball’s vast history of developing and sending players to the MLB continued after seven members from the 2024-2025 roster were selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, including star outfielder Jace LaViolette, starting pitcher Justin Lamkin, shortstop Kaeden Kent, starting pitcher Myles Patton, pitcher Kaiden Wilson, infielder Wyatt Henseler, and former ace pitcher Ryan Prager.
For second-year head coach Michael Earley, his 2025-2206 roster is filled with talent, which now includes former Maryland standout infielder Chris Hacopian, while returning junior starting pitcher Shane Sdao headlines a revamped pitching rotation. However, one of the Aggies’ former one-year stars, current Texas Rangers utility player Michael Helman, joined the franchise after short stints with several programs during the start of the season.

The Rangers have been on a roll, winning four out of their last five games despite dealing with injury issues, which led to Helman joining the starting lineup and taking his new opportunity by storm.
In 20 games, Helman is hitting .255 with five home runs and 17 RBI, while his recent impact during Texas’s first two games against the Milwaukee Brewers, considered one of the best teams in the MLB, could keep him in the starting lineup for the rest of the regular season.
On Monday, the Rangers defeated the Brewers 5-0 behind Helman’s five RBI, including a grand slam and an RBI double. On Tuesday, Helman’s impact continued, hitting a 2-run home run in two days to tie the game at 3-3, while his impressive backhanded catch in left center prevented a 2-run home run to secure the 5-4 series-clinching victory.
The Rangers will look to sweep the Brewers on Wednesday, which would be the first time Milwaukee endured a sweep since facing the New York Yankees to open the 2025 season. Texas is now just 2.5 games out of first place in the AL West, and one game out of the last wildcard spot.
