The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Francisco Giants, 5-1, on Friday night via a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning against Tanner Scott. LA fell to 82-65 in devastating fashion and dropped the first of seven meetings against their NL West foe over the next 10 days. Scott gave up his 11th home run of the season on the grand slam.
During the game, All-Star third baseman Max Muncy was forced to exit after getting hit by a pitch. Manager Dave Roberts provided an update on the slugger after the game.
In other news, All-Star catcher Will Smith didn’t play on Friday, but was available off the bench. After a foul ball left him dealing with a right-hand contusion, the backstop missed his fourth straight game, but isn’t going on the injured list.
Additionally, the Washington Nationals are reportedly interested in poaching a member of the Dodgers front office. The member of Dodgers brass has a geographical link to the Nats and, of course, his stellar ability to scout.
Finally, the city of San Francisco took a shot at the Dodgers by way of their transportation agency. The clever play on words and the color choice paired with the fact that LA is currently in the midst of a series with the Giants makes many believe that this is no coincidence.
