Geraldo Perdomo discusses Diamondbacks’ 9-8 loss to Twins during race

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo explains what it was like to lose the 9-8 thriller to the Minnesota Twins late on Friday, Sept. 12.

Update: The Diamondbacks have posted their lineup and Marte is starting. He is playing second base and batting second.

MINNEAPOLIS — Tests on Ketel Marte’s sore foot came back negative, manager Torey Lovullo said, and the Diamondbacks’ second baseman was planning to go through a workout during batting practice to gauge his availability for the game.

Waiting to determine whether Marte could play, the Diamondbacks had not submitted a lineup for their Saturday, Sept. 13, game against the Minnesota Twins as of about an hour and a half before first pitch.

Marte underwent both an MRI and a CT scan earlier in the day, Lovullo said.

“He’s got a contusion – it’s a nasty contusion and he’s trying to work through that right now,” Lovullo said. “We’ll see where he’s at through the course of the pregame workout.”

Marte fouled a ball off the inside of his right foot in the first inning of the club’s game on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in San Francisco. He was penciled into the opening game of the Twins series but was scratched before first pitch.
