SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners announced that center fielder Julio Rodríguez will not participate in next week’s MLB All-Star Game.

“I’m really honored that my peer voted me into the All-Star Game—that means a lot to me,” Rodríguez posted on X. “As much as I’d love to be out there, I want to take this time to take care of my body and fully prepare for the second half of the season.”

Rodríguez had been voted onto the AL roster via the players’ ballot, along with SP Bryan Woo and RP Andrés Muñoz. Cal Raleigh will start the All-Star Game at catcher after winning the fan vote.

Rodríguez is batting .244 with 11 home runs, 44 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases.

As the Mariners gear up for a tough second half, the team has had a rough road trip before the All-Star Game.

There has been a lot of speculation about what trades the Mariners could make before the trade deadline at the end of July.

The Mariners’ usually-stout bullpen blew a big lead against the New York Yankees Thursday night, erasing Woo’s fantastic start.

Woo carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning before Jazz Chisholm singled.
