Joey Chestnut demolished 227 nuggets during a unique eating challenge at Oracle Park on Friday night during the Giants-Dodgers game.

Joey Chestnut has the kind of job most people can only dream about: getting paid to eat ridiculous amounts of food while crowds cheer. And on Friday night at Oracle Park, the competitive eating legend reminded everyone why he’s the undisputed GOAT of gastronomic greatness, while putting a bit of a different spin on the classic 9-9-9 challenge.

The Challenge That Wasn’t Really a Challenge

The San Francisco Giants invited Chestnut to tackle what they thought was a reasonable challenge: consume 99 Impossible Foods chicken nuggets over nine innings during their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Clearly, they didn’t get the memo about who they were dealing with.

Chestnut looked at that 99-nugget target the way most people look at a light appetizer. By the fifth inning, he had already demolished 227 nuggets, making the original challenge look like a warm-up exercise.

Going Full Chestnut Mode

When the final out was recorded, Chestnut had consumed a staggering 275 nuggets. That is nearly three times the original challenge. He did it all while maintaining what could generously be described as “country club pace,” casually dipping nuggets in an array of sauces like he was enjoying a leisurely dinner rather than setting yet another eating record.

Just Another Day at the Office

This latest feat adds to Chestnut’s already absurd resume of eating accomplishments. The 41-year-old holds over 50 world records, including:

182 chicken wings in 30 minutes

141 hard-boiled eggs in eight minutes

384 gyozas in 10 minutes

102 tamales in 12 minutes

5.9 lbs Kings Dominion Funnel Cakes in 10 minutes

39 pierogis in two minutes (during a Cavaliers halftime show)

And of course, his crown jewel: 17 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest championships.

The Real MVP

While the Giants and Dodgers battled on the field, the real entertainment was happening in the stands, where Chestnut turned what should have been a modest eating challenge into another chapter in his already legendary career.

Someone should probably check on whoever set that 99-nugget target. They clearly underestimated what happens when you invite Joey Chestnut to dinner; he doesn’t just eat, he conquers.
