MINNEAPOLIS — A pair of errors by third baseman Jordan Lawlar opened the door for the Minnesota Twins to score two runs and move in front of the Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14, at Target Field.

The Twins lead, 2-1, as play continued in the third inning.

With two out and a runner on second in the second inning, Lawlar could not field a routine ground ball cleanly, allowing Mickey Gasper to reach safely and putting runners on first and third.

Edouard Julien followed with a run-scoring single to left off Diamondbacks right-hander Nabil Crismatt.

The next batter, Byron Buxton, hit a roller to third, where Lawlar fielded it and hurried a high throw to first. It clipped off the outstretched glove of first baseman Tim Tawa, allowing Gaspar to score.

The Diamondbacks had scored first in the top of the inning, getting an RBI single from James McCann to drive home Alek Thomas, who doubled with two out.
