1979 – Astros sell
The National League approved a sale of the Houston Astros to John McMullen, a businessman who previously owned the Astros and New Jersey Blue Devils, from the Ford Motor Credit Company for a reported $19 million.
1993 – Yard off Pedro
Astros pitcher Doug Drabek swats a game-winning home run off Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Pedro Martinez. This win would be one of Drabek’s nine on the season in a year where he led the major leagues in losses.
2011 – Astros sell again
The Astros announced that the club had been sold to a group of investors headed by businessman Jim Crane. The sale would be for $680 million, the second highest for an MLB team. That same day, the Astros dropped a 3-2 game to the Atlanta Braves for their 26th loss of the season, making them a National League worst 15-26.
