Parkway South opened its softball season by winning all four of its games in the Jackson Invitational.
The Patriots scored a 9-5 win over Fredericktown. Senior Payton Jackson drove in the winning run with a walk off single in a 4-3 victory over host Jackson in a quarterfinal game.
In the semifinals, Parkway South thumped Doniphan 6-1.
In the championship game, the Patriots prevailed with a 7-6 win over Chaffee in nine innings. Junior Carrie Naeger drove in the winning run with the walk off double.
Senior Natalie Brody had a big tournament for the Patriots. She drove in six runs in the four games. She hit .429 and that included a home run. Her two-run homer came against Chaffee.
Brody threw 11 innings in two games and finished with a 1.91 ERA. She picked up the pitching win in a 4-3 quarterfinal win over Jackson with four innings of scoreless relief. She started and pitched the first seven innings against Chaffee.
