When the Chicago Cubs are good, their fan base is arguably the best in baseball. Even when the Cubs struggle, which has been far too often over the past decade-plus, Cubs fans show out.

This fan base loves the organization, perhaps more than they should. The Cubs front office hasn’t exactly rewarded them with perfect players in recent years, but that doesn’t change anything. The fan base loves their Cubs and will continue to, no matter how they play.

Despite that being the reality, the Cubs organization understands what the fan base means to them. They’re lucky to have one of the top fan bases in Major League Baseball, and they acknowledge that during the week.

“It allows for moments to be just bigger,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said, per The Athletic. “They feel bigger when the stadium’s full. We all feel that.”

When the stadium jumps the way it has in recent weeks, anything can happen.

The Cubs look like a team with a chance to make the postseason and a run to the World Series  Of course, they’ll have to get through a star-studded National League, but the Cubs have plenty of talent.

If the front office makes the right deadline move, the Cubs will have an opportunity to do something special. It won’t be an easy task, as it never is, but they have to feel confident in being one of the better teams in the NL.

At the very least, the front office needs to reward their fan base with a chance to win, and that’s without factoring in the guys on the roster who deserve to win, too.
