Giants ace Logan Webb made an appalling confession to Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts.
In an appearance on Bleacher Report’s “On Base with Mookie Betts,” the rival shortstop asked Webb how many fantasy football leagues he participates in.
“I kind of don’t want to say it, I’m in eight leagues,” Webb admitted.
“Eight?” Betts responded in bewilderment.
Many fantasy football players hardly are successful in one league, let alone two. Webb, a diehard Las Vegas Raiders fan and former quarterback for Rocklin High School, somehow finds success managing fantasy teams in eight different leagues.
“I’ve won a couple of leagues. The Giants one is the one I want to win the most. I’ve come in second twice I believe,” Webb said.
Beating family and friends at fantasy football is always sweet, but Webb wants bragging rights among his teammates.
But playing in the Giants’ fantasy football league comes with risk. Many fantasy leagues decide on a punishment for the last-place team manager, and the Giants have their own unique method of sanction.
“We’ve usually done the bat boy in spring training. Curt Casali, he lost last year and he has not come to bat boy, so we’re kind of waiting on that,” Webb told Betts.
Casali is no longer with the Giants and was unable to serve his sentence this season. But, outfielders Austin Slater and Steven Duggar have performed the duty in past years. Two seasons ago, broadcaster Dave Flemming served as bat boy during a regular season game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Giants pitcher hopes to get over the hump to win the league and avoid the same fate as Slater, Duggar and Flemming.
