The Guardians enter their final road trip of the season — starting with three games in Detroit, Sept. 16-18 — in the thick of the playoff race as the regular season enters its final two weeks.

A 4-0 Cleveland win on Wednesday, Sept. 17 after a 7-5 win by the Guardians in 10 innings on Sept. 16 has done nothing to hurt their chances.

The Guardians have played their best baseball in September, winning 11 times in a 12-game span to keep themselves in the race for one of the American League three wild card spots. They remain 2.5 games back of the last spot entering Sept. 18. They also have moved within 4.5 games of Detroit in the AL Central Division thanks to their current season-best six-game winning streak.

Cleveland continued a three-game series in Detroit, Wednesday, Sept. 17, with a 4-0 win. The Guardians were 7-5 winners in 10 innings in the series opener Sept. 16. The two teams wrap up the series Thursday. First pitch is 1:10 p.m.
