BOSTON (KLTV) – Former Hallsville Bobcat Justin Slaten tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Boston’s 5-4 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.
The right-hander entered the game in the fifth inning.
Slaten faced one batter in the fifth and got Brett Harris to fly out to end the inning. In the sixth, Slaten forced Nick Kurtz to ground out, Shea Langeliers to strike out and Brent Rooker to fly out for the 1-2-3 inning.
Slaten threw 15 pitches, with 13 of them being strikes.
Boston (83-69) is tied for second in the AL Wild Card race, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The Red Sox continue their series against the Athletics on Thursday.
