MLB (0.5 Unit) LA Angels/Colorado Rockies Over 11.5 (-120; Odds via Fanduel): 7:10 PM CT on Fanduel Sports West

Both of these teams keep giving up runs in bunches, so putting them together has to result in another high-scoring game. Especially at Coors Field, where the last gasps of summer should still allow the ball to jump and carry. Weather conditions haven’t been ideal the past few days, but that didn’t stop the Rockies and light-hitting Marlins from putting up 11, 12, and 16 runs in their series.

So with the Angels coming in and bringing their disastrous pitching staff with them, I think we see another high-scoring game here. They’ll start a rookie in Mitch Farris, who won’t pitch deep into this game and gives way to their atrocious bullpen. Even the Rockies can take advantage of that, and will likely have their own starter Bradley Blalock knocked around as well given his 12.58 ERA at home. While I don’t love either offense in this matchup, I do love the combustibility of all the pitchers involved, so look to the over here.

 

WNBA (0.5 Unit) NY Liberty @ Phoenix Mercury -2.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 8:00 PM CT on ESPN2

I really think the Liberty are a dead team walking. Last year was their year, thanks to some help from the officiating, but this just isn’t their time. They’re too banged up with Breanna Stewart looking obviously less than fully healthy, if their Big 3 isn’t at full capacity they’re in trouble against a team like Phoenix with all their talent.

The Mercury running New York off their own floor the other night was not a fluke, and should’ve been the series clincher if Alyssa Thomas hadn’t missed a bunny at the buzzer in Game 1. Books and smart money recognize the situation here too, as the Game 1 line was -2 in favor of the Liberty but has swung to this point, and it’s a cheap price to back what I consider the deeper, healthier, and better team.
