Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron has been named as the No. 2 overall college 2026 draft prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Last season, Lebron hit for a .316 batting average with 18 home runs and 72 RBI in 59 games. He was named to multiple All-America lists as a sophomore. He was also a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist, given to the best amateur player in the United States.

Lebron is a promising pro prospect who is 6’2 with a smooth, natural swing at the plate. In the field, he shows good range as a shortstop and a great arm. He is very fast at turning the double play. Last season, he had a .963 fielding percentage with only nine errors on 128 attempts. Lebron is a multi-tooled player who can steal bases as has stolen 27 in two seasons at Alabama.

Expectations for this season would be a potential Golden Spikes Award, a .330 batting average, and 25 home runs as he enters his junior year. He has a unique combination of size, power, speed, and natural athleticism. He has a similar skillset and body type to former MLB great Alex Rodriguez.

Lebron can have a fantastic junior season, and lead the Tide to a potential College Word Series appearance. From there, we have to stay tuned to where he falls in July’s draft.
