ARLINGTON — The Peagle will now power down.
The Texas Rangers wore their current iteration of City Connect jerseys for the final time in Friday’s series opener vs. the Miami Marlins at Globe Life Field.
The black and cream uniforms — which have been in the rotation since the start of the 2023 season — have been worn at home on Friday’s since their insertion into the wardrobe rotation.
“I did like them,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Friday afternoon. “I like the hats, I like the uniform. I think they looked good, I think they did a nice job on it.”
Rangers
The Rangers went 23-23 in their City Connect uniforms before Friday’s final voyage. Right fielder Adolis García might’ve provided the most memorable moment in the uniform when he hit three home runs vs. the Oakland Athletics in the second game that the Rangers had ever played in them.
The jerseys, which were designed to recognize the culture of Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington, will be replaced by a different City Connect jersey next season.
“I think you have to cover the whole metro,” Bochy said when asked for his thoughts on what next year’s jerseys should be. “Cowboys, western, the history of Fort Worth, and then you’ve got Dallas. Maybe get something oil [related] in there. Kind of like Yellowstone, how they start it, have a picture of that on there. Of course Arlington. Something to represent all around.”
Texas Rangers’ Wyatt Langford sidelined with ‘side tightness’ for opener against Marlins
Manager Bruce Bochy said that Langford had been battling discomfort but, on Friday, it reached a point where he needed to sit. He is considered day-to-day.
